Data Release Policy

  1. All data is released free of charge as soon as it becomes available.

  2. Unfinished, unassembled sequences are released from our server as they become available. At this point the data is neither screened nor assembled. This data is pre-release and is clearly marked on our web site as incomplete data, subject to error, and possibly even to misidentification. As such it is used at your own risk.

  3. Assembled contigs will be released when they become available but no guarantee of the frequency of data release nor quality of the data can be given.

  4. Unfinished sequences should be regarded as unpublished data. Please read our guidelines on use of data in publications.

  5. Data is simultaneously released to NCBI where it may be searched using BLAST or downloaded for local use.

  6. Finished data will be released to GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ.

If you have any comments or questions on the data, release policies, use of the data or anything else, email Rob Edwards. This page was based on a similar policy provided by the Sanger Center regarding their sequencing projects.

Although the NIH has a new policy regarding data release, our data release policy exceeds their minimum requirements.

Currently data is being released as raw sequence data, inlcuding the images from the sequencing machine. We reserve the right to remove, compress, or otherwise alter the format of any of this data. However, raw data will always be available on request to Rob Edwards.

If you have any comments or questions on the data, release policies, use of the data or anything else, email Rob Edwards.
