The Bossi's Transcription Movie
Nello and Nara Bossi made and distributed a quicktime movie of RNA polymerase
transcribing supercoiled DNA. The movie can be downloaded from this site. We also have two animated gif
versions: The first has the same speed as the movie, and the second has been
slowed down. Both are available from this
website.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plays a major role in gathering information about outbreaks, and collecting data regarding the incidence of Salmonella infections. The two main CDC departments are the weekly journal Morbidity and Mortality Weekly (MMWR) which publishes statistics related to health factors, and the monitoring system FoodNet.
The US Department of Agriculture funds research related to Salmonella infections in animals, particularly farmed animals. The research database, CRIS, can be searched directly.
The National Institutes of Health funds biomedical related research. The Food and Drug Administration is involved in regulating the foods that are a source of Salmonella infections, and is therefore concerned about salmonellosis.
The Salmonella Genetic Stock Centre SGSC maintains Salmonella strains available for researchers, and also has a number of kits available.
The E. coli Genetic Stock Center CGSC is similar to the SGSC, except that you will get E. coli from them instead of Salmonella
